Bio

Hi, lovely Aggies! My name is Aydin and I'm a 4th-year Global Disease Biology major. I'm currently in a research lab for plant pathology and hope to someday find solutions to the most devastating and important crop diseases. As such, my practicum is currently focusing on biocontrols for plant parasitic fungi in California, namely with garlic.

GDB has been an incredibly influential force in my life. I've always been fascinated by microbiology and how pathogens cause disease, so when learning about this major, I was immediately hooked. The freedom given to students when choosing their emphasis in GDB has always been one of my favorite aspects the major. Another is the focus on One Health; the holistic approach to disease prevention and treatment paired with a strong background in science is a unique combination that prepares students (like me) for any field or path after graduation.

I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to support the diverse, positive and fantastic community that is Global Disease Biology. I can't wait to meet you!
