October Student of the Month: Aayiz Mansuri
Hi, my name is Aayiz Mansuri, and I am currently a second-year student majoring in Global Disease Biology. GDB has significantly deepened my understanding of a wide range of issues related to diseases and their profound impacts on society and global health. One of my favorite classes so far has been Disease and Society with Dr. Leveau. This class provided me with valuable insights into various diseases and many epidemiology concepts, which have furthered my enthusiasm for future GDB coursework. Majoring in Global Disease Biology has provided me with the opportunity to explore topics that I usually would not look into, and it has encouraged me to look at things in a comprehensive manner. Upon graduation, I plan on attending Medical School, with the end goal of becoming a physician, guided by the One Health principles put forth by the major. Currently, I am engaged in research at the Hamada Lab, where we are investigating the role of different genes in BTR-dependent longevity of Drosophila. I am extremely excited for the next few years, and am grateful for the opportunities that the GDB major has enabled me to gain access to!
