Bianca's Goodbyes

It's such a bittersweet feeling to write this goodbye... I started out in GDB as a student, just like you. I transferred from Modesto Junior College (woop woop, central valley!) back in 2017. I became a GDB Peer Advisor in May of 2018 and loved every second of the job, getting to build up a lot of the programs and initiatives we still carry out today in the advising team! I graduated in 2020 and started a staff position in the GDB advising team, took a little break and came back as full-time staff in May 2021. It's been 5 years of being on this little team in some capacity, and 2 years as your Academic Advisor. Leaving this office is quite hard 5 years later!!

It's sad to say goodbye, but I am so happy to have been part of your academic journeys as GDB students. I love seeing you all pursue your passions, find new interests, and find yourselves in your time here at Davis. Some of you have had difficult times while in school, and I am honored to have been part of your support system. Some of you have had really awesome breakthroughs in your journeys, and I love when you share those too. Thank you for letting me be part of it all!

Thank you, students, for being part of a wonderful GDB/One Health community. Thank you, Advising Team, for being the best possible team to work with. Thank you, faculty (Dr. Rizzo, Dr. Leveau and other instructors), for serving students with understanding and compassion, and being excellent partners for our Advising Team. I'm just full of gratitude as this season comes to an end for me!

If you're curious about where I'm going next: I'm a student in a Masters of Public Health program in Health Education and Coaching at Loma Linda University, and will be continuing my studies full-time in the upcoming year. Unlike my undergraduate career, my graduate career has been a lot more exploratory. I'm exploring different public health possibilities in health policy, community health, health education, health coaching, and potentially physical therapy in the future. I'm exploring like many of you are!

Please do stay in touch, I would love to see where you all end up in your journeys! :)

The GDB community is amazing and it's composed of AMAZING individual people -- like YOU. When doubt creeps in, remember that you made it to where you are today and you're part of an amazing community in GDB.

I wish you all the very best as you continue to pursue your education and beyond!

Kindly,

Bianca L. Radut
