Brandon's Last Day

Hi everyone,

All good things come to an end, and I am sad to announce that my time as a peer advisor and student has too. The last four years at UC Davis have been unforgettable. I will surely miss riding my bike across our beautiful campus, catching a break to grab coffee with friends, and engaging in all things disease. Most importantly, I will miss all of the exchanges I've shared with strangers, friends, and mentors. Our diverse Global Disease Biology department has been pivotal to my growth as a student, and I want to take a moment to thank everyone.

I have learned so much from all of you. You have shown me what it means to be truly compassionate and supportive through unimaginable times. Frustration and heartache have plagued a year we all want to fast forward, yet it reminds us that we must work to bring about legitimate change.  To my fellow students and dear Class of 2020, thank you for demonstrating what it means to be genuinely passionate. To my advisors and mentors, thank you for your commitment to education and welcoming students like me with open arms.

As I continue to pursue my dream of becoming an academic physician, I will always remember my time as a Global Disease Biology student. I stumbled upon this major accidentally, but it didn’t take long for me to get hooked on the One Health approach. To prospective students, you are in good hands—take a moment to reflect upon what makes you feel alive and use this opportunity to make the degree your own. You will learn so much and I cannot wait to feel the rippling effects of your contributions. Shout out to the best major on campus.

Cheers,

Brandon Nguyen
