February Student of the Month: Aninditha Keshavan

Hello! I'm Aninditha Keshavan, a third year GDB student from Loma Linda, California. I've always known that I want to pursue public health policy and research, as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic significantly shaped the way I see the world. Through my education at UCD, I've been able to learn about the different facets of public health, from policy to data to biology research. It has broadened my perspective and helped me understand how I can best contribute to the mitigation of infectious diseases.

From the classes I've taken as a GDB major and the lab experience I've been able to acquire, I now understand that my passions center on studying zoonoses, disease emergence, and surveillance systems to track spillover events from wildlife. Additionally, I want to bridge the gap in scientific understanding between researchers and the general public. I aspire to eventually go to graduate school and conduct research in the public health field. Through comprehensive classes and electives, GDB has given me so many opportunities to explore my interests and discover my passions related to infectious diseases and public health.
