GDB Alumni Spotlight, May 2022: Brandon Nguyen
Hey GDB! I graduated Class of 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in GDB and a minor in Philosophy. I am currently a Clinical Research Coordinator at UCSF helping families who have experienced neonatal loss with autopsy, research donation, and organ donation. In my free time, I enjoy backpacking, snowboarding, and teaching my dog new tricks.
As an undergraduate student, I was a volunteer for the Knights Landing One Health Center, an editor for the Narrative Pre-Health Journal, and a peer advisor. My research practicum focused on the joining of these two enterprises in what became a pilot project on a Narrative Medicine approach in the setting of a student-run free clinic. It was through GDB that I had the opportunity to uniquely pursue my passion for service.
I genuinely believe that the support I received from the department is what has allowed me to stay motivated and navigate life after Davis. As I apply to medical school this year, I reflect back and am grateful to have been in a major so dedicated to empowering students to bring about measureable change. Hearing about student successes through the listserv and Facebook group makes me feel honored to have been apart of the GDB family.
