January Student of the Month: Emily Wheeler

Hi everyone! I'm Emily Wheeler, a 4th year GDB student and English minor. 

I have always been fascinated with diseases and finding out that there was a way for me to focus my college experience on it was beyond perfect. I started at Davis as a different major but almost immediately switched to GDB after taking SAS 13 where my interest in diseases (whether it be of humans, plants, or animals) grew even more. 

My goal is to go to medical school and GDB offered a path in which I could complete all the prerequisites for it while doing a major that has a focus that I love. I also love the GDB community as it sets you up for success and always offers help when needed. The advising team, professors, and other students in the major make the GDB major stand out. I hope to take everything I have learned through the GDB major and use it to help the community around me.
