April Student of the Month: Callan Malone
Outside of class, I spend time in the Gareau lab, which I joined in fall 2023, and am currently completing my practicum and honors thesis studying how the exposure of perfluorooctanoic acid can cause altered neuronal signaling in the gut and brain. I am also a mentor lead in the Redwood Seeds program which is a four year residential program for students with intellectual disabilities at UC Davis. I am passionate about making healthcare accessible and inclusive to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. After graduating, I hope to go into healthcare and bring with me the ability to think broadly about what may be affecting the person in front of me, which is a way of thinking GDB really reinforced. For fun I love to backpack, spend time with dogs, and play ultimate frisbee.
