Kyra Liu

GDB Student of the Month, March 2021: Kyra Liu

Hi everyone! I am Kyra (she/her), a 3rd year Global Disease Biology major. During my second year at UC Davis, I switched my major to GDB after learning that the major fits with my interests in public health and health equity. The GDB major, including the One Health Model, has provided me with a broader framework to view health and healthcare through. I am so thankful for the wonderful friends that I met in the GDB major. Currently, I am the Asian Pacific Islander Community Coordinator at the Cross-Cultural Center and an intern for Southeast Asians Furthering Education through the Student Recruitment and Retention Center. I love supporting my fellow Southeast Asian students through cultural and educational programming and retention initiatives. I am also a volunteer at Joan Viteri Memorial Clinic in Oak Park, Sacramento. I hope to pursue a career at the intersection of medicine and public health, providing resources and care to marginalized communities. I enjoy being a part of this special major with incredible students, and I am excited to see what we all do during undergrad and after we graduate!
